No, Mr. President: John Piper’s Response to President Obama on Abortion

John Piper gave a message called “The Baby in My Womb Leaped for Joy” January 25, 2009. In this message he speaks highly of Obama, but disagrees sharply in regards to the issue of abortion. In a section of his message he speaks about the 36th anniversary of Roe vs. Wade. President Barack Obama released the statement:

We are reminded that this decision not only protects women’s health and reproductive freedom but stands for a broader principle: that government should not intrude on our most private family matters.
– Barack Obama

John Piper gives his response to this quote. His response was taken and made into a typography video. It is a very well made video. This video has gone viral this past week with over 60,000 views in the last few days.

Who is John Piper?

John Piper is a Pastor serving at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is the author of many books such as What Jesus Demands from the World, Pierced by the Word, God’s Passion for His Glory, and Don’t Waste Your Life.

Media is playing a greater factor in debating these controversial topics. I personally love a well made typography video, as well as firm well spoken speech. Combine the two and here comes one result.

  • What do you think of this video?
  • Do you agree it is well made?

  1. Pastor John Piper’s message is quite powerful. Although I’m not a big fan of Christian preachers such as Pastor Piper, I agree with his sentiments about abortion and President Obama’s complete disregard for the inalienable right of life. Mr. Obama has set the tone for his presidency, let’s hope the American people wake up to the tragedy of abortion before we become completely inured and before government takes over every aspect of our private lives.

Thanks, by the way, for pointing out the bad link to my posted video. YouTube yanked the video over copyright infringement (meaning that the YouTube folks didn’t like it and so they buried it). I always feel justified when I post videos that YouTube has banned for one reason or another.
