Remembering 9/11 – Attack of the World Trade Center
I woke up to the sound of someone talking on the radio. The sun was already beating down through the bedroom window, another beautiful day I thought. I was wondering why my roommate had the radio on. I had planned to sleep in a bit. Then I heard over the air-waves, someone speaking of a plane crashing into a building. For a second I thought I must have misheard. Planes being run into buildings? That’s crazy…

…the burning tower, the people screaming, the people crying. It was as if the world stopped. Are the people out? What about those on the top floors? What in the world happened?

This video is simply powerful. You can feel the feeling of regret and pain of having done something incredibly wrong. Though this video is mainly focused on the regret and consequences of drunk driving I want to highlight a scene that may be easily brushed off as something just “artistic”. I am referring to the scene near the end of the video of the family members flying across the screen. This is such a poignant scene. This simple video shows the narration of a suburban wife and her very real struggle to “reconcile the trappings of wealthy america” and her call to morality. She looks at the poor and though she wants to help, knows she should help, struggles to do so because grinding through life is hard enough. Summary: The members of this church in berkeley created a video collage of the various community services they are involved in. They went out during valentines to convalescent homes & women shelters in the bay area to show love to those who need it most. They also have an Impact Program mentoring and loving the underprivileged kids in Oakland. This video shows pictures of their volunteer work laid on top of Matt Redman’s “I Will Offer Up My Life.”
