3D Chalk Art in the Streets Part I

By Paul Lee

This is the first of four posts highlighting the beautiful 3D chalk art of Julian Beever. Julian is famous for his incredible 3D chalk art he draws in the streets. It is carefully drawn at incredible angles so that when the viewer stands in front of it, the art looks like it jumps off the street completely in 3D. His 3D chalk art is often drawn in long stretches of pavement. It is hard to make out what is is supposed to be from the back or the sides but from the front you can’t help but be awed by the artwork. I do not know if all the artwork posted below is Julian’s work but I know most of it is. Enjoy! Many more below the jump. Vote for your favorite!

3D Chalk Art – Coke Bottle – Unbelievable!

A very simple 3D Chalk Art piece, but none the less very clear and amazing. Making me thirsty!

3D Chalk Art – Brick Hole – Careful, under construction!

Simple 3D piece, but very fun. Notice the guy walking around it.

Great looking 3D Chalk Hole, too bad the people don’t look so realistic. But still simply amazing.

Example of what the chalk art looks like from a different angle. It just looks like a stretched drawing, hard to make out….

When looking at the art from the correct angle. Magic.

Your drawings are amazing! One question, is the coke bottle actually drawn????? You rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Where are the River Rafting drawing located???

    Appreciate the Comment Christian!

The man who drew most of these pictures is Julian Weaver. The locations are all over the place as he often travels to different cities to do his 3d chalk artwork. I am sure a little bit of googling could help you find the info you need.

Oh the Coke is an authentic 3D Chalk Art for sure. Incredible huh? That is one of my favorites.

    Thanks!

I THINK THESE DRAWINGS COME FROM NO ONE BUT GOD USING HIM TO SHOW PEOPLE HOW GREAT GOD CAN USE ANYBODY TO SHOW HIS GLORY! THIS IS TRULY A GREAT GIFT OF DRAWING FROM GOD! TO ME THE WAY HE MAKES THE COLORS TO BLEND IN TO CREATE THE 3D LOOK IS ASTONISHING. I HOPE SOMEONE IS BEING A GREAT FINANCIAL BLESSING TO THIS MAN AND NOT TAKING ADVANTAGE OF HIS GIFT OR TAKING HIS GIFT FOR NOUGHT. THANKS FOR READING MY COMMENT.

Please don’t bring religion into something that takes pure skill and nothing else. This guy surely has been drawing his whole life. Practice makes perfect, not god.

This form of artistry is reminiscent of the late eighteenth century revolution in perspective, but this is on a whole new level!! Your level of craftsmanship is astonishing!! You, sir, belong with the greats such as William Herman, Richard Worthington, Mark Twain, and Francisco de Goya!! Even Rembrandt himself would gaze in awe at your brilliance!! Your works are gritty like the cities which they brighten, yet brilliant and beautiful like the city at night!! By no means are your pieces of fine artistry cinchy!! Please contact me at my email address which I have posted above, for I intend to offer you a place in THE most prestigious academy in all of Brittania!!
    Your humble servant and admirer,
    Sir Howard Gray
